Winter Weddings in Cardiff

Winter can be a magical time for a wedding; crisp snow, mulled wine, log fires & Christmas decorations all add to that fairytale image. The reality, however, can be very different. With winters becoming increasingly milder, it is a huge gamble to rely on the weather to be accommodating. It's much more likely that it will be overcast, raining and blowing a gale, which doesn't make for good outdoor photos! With this in mind it is essential to have a back up plan:

  • Try and have the ceremony & reception in the same place. Lots of hotels have marriage licenses now so there's no need for you to get drenched moving from church to reception venue.
  • Have a back up photo location. Take group photos in a large indoor space rather than having everyone huddle together outside in the wind and rain
  • Think of your guests; you don't want them to have to stand outside in the rain while you are having photos taken in the church before moving to the reception!

The bottom line is to give yourself options. If there is crisp snow on the ground then you should take advantage of it, however, don't rely on the weather as it could end up ruining your day!
